Gaymers: Bootlezzing the Archives (2019)
Collaboration with Ginger Brooks Takahashi
Curated by Christina Linden

Gaymers: Bootlezzing the Archives is an interactive gayming space created by Ginger Brooks Takahashi and Nica Ross for the exhibition Queer California: Untold Stories at the Oakland Museum of California, Oakland, California, April 13–August 11, 2019.

Featuring accessibly redesigned versions of the tabletop games Rainbow Gayme (1992), It’s Only Natural (1986), and D.Y.K.E. (1986), presented as playable bootlegs. While their content remains unchanged, the games have been reimagined in scale and format for a museum setting, inviting players to explore LGBTQ lives, values, and histories.
