noo reality ≈ a gayme (2016-2018)
Exhibited:
Baxter Street CCNY, NYC (2016)
ICA Philadelphia, PA (2018)

noo reality ≈ a gayme is a collaborative storytelling game built from a deck of photographic cards. Using a system of symbols, players connect images and text to construct shifting, collective narratives through play.

The photographs—captured during a period of personal wandering—depict ambiguous landscapes and empty spaces that evoke displacement and voyeurism. Their openness invites players to project their own experiences and desires, while drawing on queer histories, particularly the coded practices of gay cruising. Rejecting any fixed narrative, the work embraces subjectivity and constant recontextualization.

Installed within an RGB-lit environment, the project references digital image-making and the construction of “real” color, further questioning perception and reality itself.

The edition includes a card deck, game flag, audio soundtrack by Geo Wyex, and RGB light bulbs, with a digital version also available.
